Techo-Bloc Driveway & Pavers: The San Jose Owner’s Guide
We install, repair, and replace Techo-Bloc paver driveways across San Jose, with full paver driveway installations running $8,260 to $21,240 depending on square footage, base prep, and the specific Techo-Bloc line you choose. Most homeowners contact us after noticing a paver that’s sunk or shifted, a section of the driveway that’s holding water, or edge restraints that have let go. We stock the common Techo-Bloc dimensions on the truck, and we’ll match your existing product or spec a compatible replacement line the same day we walk the job.
Which Techo-Bloc Models This Applies To

Techo-Bloc runs their paver lines in distinct series, and the part you need has to match both the dimensions and the face texture of what’s already in the ground. We routinely work with the Blu 60, Blu 80, and Industria lines across San Jose driveways, along with the Aberdeen and Semma series for patios and borders. A paver that looks close but is the wrong thickness changes the whole surface plane, and that’s where most DIY replacements go sideways.
Here’s the identification process we use: measure the paver’s length, width, and thickness in millimeters, check the bottom of an existing unit for a Techo-Bloc series stamp (most lines are marked), and note the surface finish. Techo-Bloc offers the same series in multiple finishes, such as a shot-blasted texture versus a smooth face. Same dimensions, different finish means a visible patch. We keep OEM Techo-Bloc units in the common sizes, and quality aftermarket equivalents are available for older lines that Techo-Bloc has cycled out of production. We’ll tell you when aftermarket makes sense and when it doesn’t.

Signs Your Techo-Bloc Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Sinking or heaving pavers. In San Jose’s clay-heavy soil, poor base prep or years of water migration leave sections of the driveway dropping an inch or more. The paver itself is usually fine; the substrate underneath has failed.
- Standing water after rain. A properly graded paver driveway drains within minutes. Puddles that linger mean the base has settled unevenly and the surface plane is gone, so water pools instead of running to the edge.
- Edge restraints pulling away. The plastic or aluminum edging that holds your pavers in a tight block gets brittle over time. Once it cracks or separates, the entire border starts to drift within a season or two.
- Wide, uneven joints between pavers. Joint sand washes out slowly, but when you see gaps over half an inch and pavers shifting underfoot, the interlock has failed and the system is losing its strength.
- Efflorescence or surface spalling. A white chalky film is cosmetic and cleanable. But pavers that are flaking, pitted, or crumbling on the surface have absorbed water through a failed sealer or a freeze-thaw cycle that damaged the unit itself.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Full paver driveway installation in San Jose runs $8,260 to $21,240, and the spread comes down to three factors: total square footage, how much base excavation and compaction the site requires, and which Techo-Bloc line you specify. A smaller driveway with good existing base runs low; a long driveway on clay soil that needs full subgrade correction runs high.
Every quote we write includes demolition and haul-off of old material, new gravel base at the correct depth, bedding sand, the Techo-Bloc pavers, edge restraints, joint sand, and compaction. If we’re repairing rather than replacing, which is usually the case for one or two sunken pavers, you’re looking at a line-item price for resetting the units: typically $500 to $1,900 depending on how much base correction is involved. We don’t use change orders. Straight number, written scope, done when we said done.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely inspect your own driveway. Walk the surface, mark sunken sections, check the edge restraints, and note where water pools after rain. That information helps us price the repair faster. What you shouldn’t do is attempt to lift and reset pavers yourself without addressing the base underneath. The failure is almost always in the substrate, not the paver, and putting units back on a bad base means pulling them again in six months.
A paver driveway isn’t inherently dangerous to work on the way high-tension equipment parts are, but it is heavy, repetitive work that requires a plate compactor and the right base material delivered to your site. If that’s not your weekend plan, call us at (669) 272-2637 and we’ll get you a written price.
FAQs

Techo-Bloc pavers are rated to last 30-plus years as a unit, but the driveway system’s real lifespan in San Jose depends on base prep and drainage. A properly compacted base and intact edge restraints will keep the surface stable for decades. The pavers don’t fail first; the substrate does. Call (669) 272-2637 and we’ll assess your base condition before quoting anything.
Yes, individual pavers and sections can be lifted, the base corrected, and the units reset at a fraction of the cost of a full replacement. The repair cost depends on how much of the base has failed. If the base is intact and only a few units are damaged or stained, the job is often done in a single day.
Minor section resets and paver replacements take one to two working days. Full driveway replacements run three to five days from excavation to final compaction, weather permitting. We document the scope before we start, so you know exactly which day the compactor leaves your property.
We keep common Techo-Bloc dimensions and colors in stock for repair work, including the Blu 60 and Industria lines. For full driveway installations, we order from our supplier by series, color, and finish, with lead times confirmed before you sign anything. If you have the exact series name or an old invoice with the product code, that speeds the match.
If you’ve got a Techo-Bloc driveway that’s sinking, shifting, or draining wrong, call us at (669) 272-2637. We’ll look at it, tell you what’s wrong, and put a written price in front of you before any work starts. We also work with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone parts and products on the remodeling side, so the same crew can handle the full scope when the project extends past the driveway.
