Belgard Fence Installation: The San Jose Owner’s Guide
Belgard fence installation in San Jose typically runs $4,130 to $10,620 for a full perimeter project, with most jobs landing in the $6,000 to $8,500 range for standard residential lots. We stock Belgard-compatible fence panels, posts, and mounting hardware, and we can usually start within a week of your call. Most owners discover a failed fence system the same way: a post has started leaning after winter rains, or a panel cracked at the mounting point after a few seasons of Santa Clara Valley sun exposure.
Bradford Remodeling Co San Jose is an independent contractor and not affiliated with Belgard. What we do offer is direct experience with their product line, honest pricing on parts and labor, and a written scope before any work begins.
Which Belgard Models This Applies To

Belgard’s fence and wall systems fall into a few distinct lines: the Belair Wall and Weston Wall for structural walls, and the Melville Wall and Diamond Pro systems for lower-profile fence and accent applications. Each uses a different post-and-panel anchoring method, and the parts do not interchange. If you have a Belair block sitting on a Weston post base, it will not seat properly. That is the most common compatibility mistake we see on jobs where another contractor patched a failed section with whatever was on the shelf.
To identify your system, pull one cap off a post and look for an embossed name or a three-digit mold number on the inside lip. If that number is gone, measure the post opening: Belair takes a 3.5-inch post insert, Melville uses a narrower channel. We can match panels from that measurement alone in most cases. For OEM versus aftermarket: Belgard’s own replacement posts carry the factory coating and color match. Quality aftermarket posts from brands we stock, including KraftMaid and Cambria when they apply to adjacent hardscape projects, come in at 20 to 30 percent less. We will show you both numbers and let you decide.

Signs Your Belgard Fence Installation Is Failing
- Post lean of more than one inch at the top. In San Jose’s clay-heavy soil, post bases shift when winter rain saturates the ground and summer drought pulls it dry again. A leaning post means the base footing has lost contact with undisturbed soil or the post sleeve was set too shallow originally.
- Hairline cracks at the panel mounting points. These are stress fractures, not cosmetic. They happen when the panel expands in direct Central Valley-style heat and the mounting clip does not allow for thermal movement. Once a crack starts at a bolt hole, the panel will eventually snap at that point.
- White chalky residue on post caps or panel edges. That is efflorescence, and it means water is moving through the concrete block. It is the first visible sign of a failed drainage path behind the fence line.
- Loose or rattling panels when you push on the center of a section. This is a mounting hardware problem. The clip or bracket has backed out or corroded, especially if the fence sits near a pool or sprinkler run.
- Ground heave at the base course. You will see the bottom course lift at the seam while the rest of the fence stays put. This is expansive soil at work, and it will only get worse through another wet season.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Belgard fence installation in San Jose runs $4,130 to $10,620 depending on linear footage, soil condition, and whether we are replacing sections or the entire system. A short run of 30 to 40 linear feet with good soil access lands near the bottom of that range. A full property perimeter of 150-plus linear feet, with old footings to remove and clay soil that needs over-excavation, lands at the top. Every quote includes parts, labor, disposal of the failed section, and a written line-item price before we start. Nothing moves at the door.
We pull permits when the city requires them, and we do not skip this step to save a few days. San Jose code enforcement is active on visible fence work, and an unpermitted installation can come back on you when you sell the house. Our installation carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the work fails within one year for any reason tied to our installation, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things before you call: push each panel to find the loose ones, mark any post that leans more than an inch, and photograph the mold number on the post cap so we can price the right parts over the phone. That saves you a trip charge. What you should not do is attempt to reset a leaning post yourself. The post bases on Belgard systems sit under tension once engaged, and a post that slips during a reset can drop a panel section. That is a crushing injury risk, not a weekend project.
If you have one cracked panel and the rest of the fence is plum, we can quote that over the phone and handle it in a morning. If three or more panels show cracks or the posts are moving, it is a footing and alignment job. Call (669) 272-2637 for a straight number.
FAQs

A properly installed Belgard fence system lasts 25 to 35 years in San Jose’s climate, with the post bases being the first component to need attention at the 15 to 20-year mark. The panels themselves hold up well to UV exposure, but our wet-dry soil cycle is harder on footings than the fence itself. Call (669) 272-2637 and we will give you an honest read on your existing fence’s remaining life.
Yes, if the lean is under two inches and the post base is still intact, we can jack the post, repack the footing, and re-seat the base without replacing the post or the adjacent panels. Beyond two inches, the footing itself has usually failed and replacement is the more honest fix. We will show you both options in writing.
A partial repair, like one or two post replacements, takes one day. A full perimeter installation on a standard San Jose lot takes three to five working days, including footing excavation and site cleanup. We schedule the crew and tell you the completion date before we start.
We stock the most common post sizes and mounting hardware for the Belair and Melville lines on our trucks, so most repairs happen same-visit. Specialty panels or custom color matches take five to seven business days, and we place the order the same day you approve the written quote. Call (669) 272-2637 for exact availability on your model.
