ActiveYards Fence Installation: The San Jose Owner’s Guide

ActiveYards fence installation in San Jose typically runs $4,130 to $10,620 for a full aluminum or vinyl panel run, depending on linear footage, gate count, and whether we’re pulling old posts or setting new ones. We stock ActiveYards-compatible post kits, brackets, gate hardware, and panel clips on the truck, so most replacements go from first call to finished install in a single visit. You’ll usually know you have a failing part when a gate starts dragging, a post leans after wind, or a panel pops loose at the bracket. If that sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.

Which ActiveYards Models This Applies To

ActiveYards runs three main lines we see across San Jose backyards: the aluminum Horizon and Infinity series, the vinyl Hudson and Hampton series, and the wood-look composite Boardwalk line. The compatibility gotcha most owners hit is this: ActiveYards changed their post bracket geometry on the Infinity series around 2019, so a bracket from a 2021 panel won’t seat correctly on an older post without a shim kit. If your fence was installed before 2019, we measure the post channel width before ordering anything. For gates, the hinge pattern matters more than the panel style. Take a photo of the gate corner and the post cap, and we can usually identify the series without a site visit.

On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: ActiveYards aluminum panels are powder-coated to a specific film thickness, and cheap aftermarket brackets don’t always match the profile. For brackets and post caps, we use genuine ActiveYards parts where available. For gate hinges and latches, we carry a quality aftermarket alternative that holds up better in coastal air than the original. Bradford Remodeling Co San Jose is an independent service provider; we are not affiliated with ActiveYards, and we’ll tell you exactly when a part needs to be OEM and when it doesn’t.

Signs Your ActiveYards Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Gate drags or won’t latch. The most common ActiveYards failure we see in San Jose. The hinge-side post has usually shifted out of plumb, or the hinge screws have worked loose in the post channel. The latch misaligns and the gate hangs up on the strike plate.
  • Leaning post after wind. San Jose’s spring gusts find the posts that were set shallow or with too little concrete. A post that moves more than a quarter inch when you push on it has lost its footing and will only get worse.
  • Panel pops out of the bracket. The aluminum bracket ears fatigue over time, especially on long runs with no mid-post. Once one bracket lets go, the adjacent brackets take more load and follow soon after.
  • Powder coat blistering or peeling near sprinklers. San Jose’s hard water and constant sprinkler contact eats through powder coat faster than sun exposure. This is cosmetic at first, but exposed aluminum starts to oxidize and weaken at the rail ends.
  • Gate sags on the hinge side. The hinge post is carrying more weight than it was set for, or the gate frame itself has racked. Tightening hinges won’t fix it; the post needs to be re-set or the gate frame squared before re-hanging.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A straight panel replacement on existing solid posts runs on the lower end: typically $4,130 to $5,900 for a 50 to 80 foot run with standard brackets and one gate. When we’re pulling failed posts, re-setting them in new concrete, and replacing gate hardware, the job climbs to $7,080 to $10,620 depending on post count and gate size. That’s San Jose pricing with parts included, no surprises. Here’s how line items break down:

  • Panel and bracket replacement: $4,130 to $5,900 for a typical single-side run
  • Post re-setting (per post): adds $295 to $590 each, including concrete and labor
  • Gate hardware and re-hang: $470 to $1,180 depending on gate width and hinge condition
  • Full fence re-installation: $8,260 to $10,620 for a complete new ActiveYards run with new posts

Every job gets a written price before work starts and carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If anything fails within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s the Garrison Standard, and it’s in writing every time.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself: push on each post to find the loose ones, look for missing bracket screws, and see if the gate latch lines up when the gate is closed. What you shouldn’t do is try to re-set a leaning post with a bag of quick-set from the hardware store. ActiveYards posts are set in specific footing depths to hold panel wind load, and a half-fixed post will fail again, often taking the panel with it. Same caution on gates: a sagging gate under tension can drop fast when you loosen the hinge bolts, and a falling aluminum gate section will hurt. Let us look at it first. Our crew does this work in San Jose every week, and the fix is usually half a day. Call (669) 272-2637 and we’ll give you a straight number.
