Blanco Driveway & Pavers: The San Jose Owner’s Guide
If you’re standing in your driveway looking at a cracked paver, a sunken section, or a drain that stopped draining, here’s the straight answer: installed Blanco-compatible driveway and paver repair in San Jose runs $8260 – $21240 for a full paver driveway installation, with replacement of failed sections falling between $4130 and $12980 depending on square footage and substrate condition. We stock common Blanco paver profiles and edge restraints on hand in San Jose, and we can typically match your existing pattern within a week. What you’re seeing now didn’t happen overnight. In San Jose, the clay-heavy soil expands and contracts through our wet winters and dry summers, and that movement is what breaks the bond between paver and base long before the paver itself gives out.
We’re Bradford Remodeling Co San Jose, an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with Blanco, but we work with their driveway and paver systems regularly, and we carry the replacement parts that keep them looking right. Curtis Lane runs the crew, and his rule applies here the same as anywhere: straight number, written scope, done when we said done.
Which Blanco Models This Applies To

Blanco’s driveway and paver line splits into three families, and the compatibility questions are different for each. The Blanco Permeable Paver Series uses a wider joint gap (typically 8 – 10mm) to let water pass through to the sub-base. The Blanco Architectural Slab line runs larger format, usually 24″ x 24″ or 24″ x 36″, and those need a deeper compacted base because they carry weight differently than smaller units. The Blanco Modular Cobble is the most common in San Jose residential driveways, and it comes in 6″ x 9″ and 6″ x 6″ mix packs.
Here’s the gotcha most owners miss: Blanco pattern-matching is tied to the die lot, not just the color name. If your original pavers came from a batch poured in 2019, a new order of the same “Charcoal Blend” will be close but not exact. We photograph existing pavers in daylight, measure the actual dimensions with a caliper, and match against the held samples before we order anything. For most San Jose driveways, the OEM Blanco paver is the right call for repairs under 40 square feet. Beyond that, a quality aftermarket equivalent from Belgard or Unilock often saves real money with no visible difference, and we’ll show you both options side by side before you commit to a number.

Signs Your Blanco Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Pavers sinking in the wheel track. This means the compacted base is failing, not the paver itself. Water got into the sub-base through a cracked edge or a low spot and softened the aggregate. Replacing just the surface pavers won’t fix it. We pull the section, recompact the base, and re-lay the pavers.
- Joint sand washing out after every rain. When the sand between pavers disappears after a storm, your edge restraint has failed somewhere downhill. Water is channeling through the joints instead of across the surface. We re-set the edge restraint with concrete bedding before re-sanding.
- Stains that won’t come out. Oil and transmission fluid from parked cars seep into unsealed pavers and stay there. In San Jose’s hot summers, those stains bake in. Sealant after cleaning is the fix, not pressure washing alone.
- White haze across the surface. That’s efflorescence, salts rising through the paver as moisture evaporates. It’s common in San Jose’s clay soil, and it tells you water is trapped under the pavers. Cleaning removes it; fixing the drainage keeps it from returning.
- Loose pavers that rock underfoot. One or two wobbling pavers means the sand bed is thinning. If they’re next to your Blanco channel drain, it’s usually the drain’s base settled unevenly. We reset the drain, then the pavers around it.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s the price picture for San Jose, written down so you know the range before anyone shows up with a clipboard. Full paver driveway installation: $8260 – $21240. Paver patio or a smaller replacement section: $4130 – $12980. Concrete driveway installation for comparison: $5310 – $14160. Driveway sealing, which we do as part of paver maintenance: $295 – $825.
What moves the number is base work. If the existing substrate is intact and we’re swapping surface pavers, you’re at the low end. If we’re excavating a failed base, hauling off clay, and recompacting with fresh road base, you’re higher. Every quote includes the parts, the labor, the disposal, and the written scope. You get the price before work starts, not a moving target. And when we finish, the job carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If it fails within the year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s in writing.
DIY or Call Us?
You can check a few things yourself without touching a paver: walk the surface after a rain and note where water pools, look for loose edge pieces, and mark any paver that moves under your heel. Those observations help us quote the job faster over the phone.
What we don’t recommend is pulling and re-laying pavers yourself. This is not tile. The danger isn’t injury, it’s failure. If the base isn’t recompacted to spec, your new pavers sink within one season, and now you’re paying twice. Same goes for cutting pavers to fit edges: a wrong cut on a Blanco die-lot piece means ordering a new one and waiting on it. We have the saws, the compactors, and the base material staged. It’s why most San Jose homeowners call us after the first DIY attempt goes sideways. Call (669) 272-2637 and we’ll put a number in front of you.
FAQs

With proper base preparation and joint maintenance, Blanco concrete pavers last 25 to 40 years on a San Jose driveway. The paver itself rarely fails; the base does. Clay soil movement shortens lifespan in areas with poor drainage. French drains or channel drains along the driveway edge extend life by keeping water out of the sub-base.
A single cracked paver is replaced, not repaired. Concrete pavers don’t patch cleanly, and any filler will look worse than the crack within a season. We pull the damaged piece, set a new one from the matched die lot, and re-sand the joints. Call (669) 272-2637 to get it handled.
A section repair of 150 square feet or less takes one to two days. A full driveway replacement runs three to five days, including base work and compaction. We clean the site, haul everything, and leave you a signed written guarantee before the crew pulls out.
We stock common Blanco Modular Cobble profiles and edge restraints at our San Jose shop, which covers most repair jobs. For full driveways or unusual die lots, we order directly and get delivery within five to seven business days. Either way, you never chase down parts yourself.
