Blanco Kitchen Remodeling: The San Jose Owner’s Guide

If you have a Blanco sink or faucet in a San Jose kitchen that needs real work done around it, you’re looking at a full kitchen remodel priced between $16,520 and $53,100 in this market, and that’s the number we put in writing before we touch a single cabinet. Most homeowners don’t call us because they woke up wanting to spend five figures. They call because a Blanco sink cracked at the flange, a faucet cartridge seized, or the cabinet holding that granite composite sink finally sagged and the whole corner of the kitchen is now a liability. That’s the job we walk into most weeks in San Jose.

The work isn’t a faucet swap and it isn’t a sink replacement. It’s a kitchen remodeling job built around a Blanco product that needs the counter, cabinet, plumbing rough-in, and substrate all brought back to square before the new fixtures go in. We do that work by the book: written scope, flat price, no surprises at the door. Curtis Lane has been running jobs in San Jose long enough to know that a Blanco sink only fails when the prep work failed first.

Which Blanco Models This Applies To

Blanco makes kitchen products in several distinct lines, and they are not interchangeable. The main families we work around in San Jose kitchens are the Silgranit composite sinks (the Precis, Diamond, and Performa series), the Stainless Steel series (Stellar, Axis, and Quatrus), and the Culina and Linus faucet lines. Each has different mounting requirements. Silgranit sinks are undermount and heavy, typically 35 to 45 pounds for a single bowl and pushing 60 for a double. That weight needs a proper plywood sub-base and cleat support, not just silicone and hope. The stainless lines run thinner and lighter, but they’re also noisier without a sound-dampening pad and the rim dimensions differ by series.

The gotcha we run into constantly: the Precis and Diamond lines have different bowl depths by model year. A 2018 Diamond 1.75 bowl is not the same radius as a 2022 Diamond 1.5. If you order a replacement without pulling the cutout template for your exact model number, you’ll own a sink that doesn’t drop into the existing counter. Model numbers are on a label under the sink deck or inside the cabinet wall. If the label is gone, we measure the cutout and match from there. OEM Blanco parts are worth the money for sinks and faucets because the composite formulation and finish codes match the original. For secondary hardware like drain flanges and basket strainers, a quality aftermarket piece in proper gauge stainless works fine and saves real money. We’ll tell you which is which before you spend.

Signs Your Blanco Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Water staining on the cabinet floor under the sink. This is almost always a failed seal between the undermount sink flange and the counter substrate. Same cause crops up in Willow Glen ranch homes in San Jose: the original installer used latex caulk instead of a polyurethane adhesive, and after a few California dry seasons the caulk pulled away and the sink is now suspended by gravity and bad luck.
  • A hairline crack running from the faucet hole toward the bowl edge. Silgranit is tough but it’s not bulletproof. If the counter dropped during install, or if a heavy cast-iron pan landed wrong, the crack starts at the stress riser around the faucet cutout and migrates. Once it’s visible on top, it’s through the material. That’s a replacement, not a repair.
  • The sink flexes when you push down on the rim. That means the support cleats or plywood sub-base under the deck have rotted or pulled loose. A flexing sink over time cracks the seal and eventually the composite. We open up the cabinet and replace the substrate before setting the new sink.
  • Faucet handle turns stiff or drips despite a new cartridge. Blanco faucets run ceramic disc cartridges that are generally reliable, but hard water in parts of San Jose leaves mineral deposits that eat at the sealing surfaces. If a new cartridge didn’t fix it, the brass body itself is scored and the faucet is done.
  • Visible rust stains at the drain flange. The Blanco stainless flange may be fine, but a cheap aftermarket strainer basket without the right grade of stainless will rust around the seal and stain the sink. We see this often when a previous handyman swapped the drain and bought whatever was on the shelf at the big box store.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled kitchen with a waterfall island and wood cabinets

For a kitchen remodel built around a failed Blanco product in San Jose, expect $16,520 to $53,100 depending on scope. Here’s the breakdown in the range most Blanco jobs land in:

  • Sink and faucet replacement with substrate repair: $2,360 to $7,670. Includes pulling the old sink, inspecting and replacing the plywood sub-base if it’s shot, setting a new Blanco or comparable sink, installing the faucet and drain, reconnecting plumbing, and resealing everything with the right adhesive.
  • Sink, faucet, and countertop replacement: $4,720 to $15,340. When the counter around the old sink is cracked, stained, or delaminated, we replace the deck with documented materials, typically Cambria, Silestone, or Caesarstone surfaces, and re-set the sink with the proper Blanco cutout template.
  • Full kitchen remodel with cabinetry: $16,520 to $53,100. This is the Blakeo job that starts as a sink and ends as a kitchen: damaged cabinet boxes, new KraftMaid or Wellborn cabinets, counters, sink, faucet, backsplash, and rough-in plumbing brought up to current San Jose code.

Every price above is a written line-item quote before work starts. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the full installation: any failure in workmanship or materials within one year, we come back and correct it at no charge. No change orders, no price that moves at the door.

DIY or Call Us?

The honest split: you can diagnose a lot yourself. Check under the sink for water stains. Push gently on the rim. Look for hairline cracks around the faucet holes. But when it comes to pulling a 45-pound Silgranit sink out of a failed substrate and setting a new one, that’s not a weekend job. Undermount sink replacement means supporting the sink from below while the adhesive cures, and a dropped Blanco sink will take the cabinet face, the flooring, and somebody’s foot with it. Faucet cartridge swaps are safe enough if you shut the water off, but if the brass body is scored, replacing the cartridge won’t fix it and you’ll spend three hours and forty dollars learning that the hard way.
